Chili à la Sido

1 lb ground beef, 90% lean
1 large onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 tbsp chili powder
1 can, black beans, drained
1 can, crushed tomatoes (fire roasted if available)

  1. Brown the beef, and drain in a colander.
  2. Using the same pan, saute diced onion in beef fat, adding minced garlic when the onion softens.
  3. Return beef to the pot, and add chili powder. Stir and let the chili fry a bit.
  4. Add beans and tomatoes, and let simmer for an hour of so.
  5. Optionally, add minced jalapeno, bell pepper, pinch of cinnamon, cayenne pepper. Serve with chips or pasta or something.
